I'm in the middle of making an upholstered headboard for my little Ainsley. After a three hour search of deciding what I wanted for her big girl bed, I came to the conclusion. I knew I didn't want to spend more than $250 for bed, mattress, and all, but upholstered beds are pretty pricey. There is an option at Walmart, but not loving it to my hearts content. Also the color is not the greatest. It's a requirement from the person sleeping in it to be pink. I asked her once what color bed she wanted, and still to this day asks about her pink bed.
I decided to make the bed, well the headboard for now. I also think I want to create padded sides and a small foot board like the bed above. I'm not going to make it tufted, but the shape is a little more unique. I'm using this darn cute fabric! It's still pink for Ainsley, but white so that it's not like Pepto threw up in her room.
Here are some headboards I found along the way. This picture is just pure love. It's so amazing. This is more of a inspiration picture of what I would want my room to look like, and I do like the shape of the headboard.
Love the boldness of this fabric. I also like the height, not my favorite for shape but like the detail of the frame around it.
Well this is more "hotel" than "3 year old". It's a little high for her but I love the curve it has.
This is more "3 year old" to me! I want her headboard higher than that, but love how the upholstery comes all the way around the bed.
I'm hoping to have the bed done in about three weeks. I will share my how-to's and costs. Cannot wait for it to be completed!
