Wood Chandelier

I found this darling wood chandelier today on Etsy, from the seller iTag Studios. It's a great little piece to add to a master bedroom or kids room, and for only $38 you could get a couple of them to make more of an impact in the space.

I know these aren't the same style, but the chandelier below is wood, and I love the rustic feel it gives the room.

Be sure to check out Ohdeedoh today. They featured girly's bed! This was one of the very first blogs I read when I wondered what the heck a blog even was. Such fun ideas and fabulous information!

Indoor Gardens

I came across this really fun, new to me site called Woolly Pocket. The site shows different ways to be able to have a garden inside. The concept is so cool. It's basically a pocket made from recycled water bottles that hangs from your wall. What a great way to bring the outdoors in, or have your own little garden.

Michelle from Ten June posted about her garden wall. She took inexpensive buckets from Ikea, put plants and herbs inside, and hung them in her kitchen. Isn't this a fun idea! It adds such a sense of spring to the space, and bonus she has herbs! I think it's genius. I love that she can choose the type of plants and easily switch them out whenever she wants. Be sure to check out her blog for the how to!

Lime Green and Navy Blue Living Room

A few weeks back a friend of mine said that her new favorite color scheme was lime green and nave blue. So I thought I would put a little inspiration board together around those colors. This would be a cheery living room to walk into. The fun pop of lime green against the dark tone of the blue, with the yellow from the chair to add warmth.

An Amazing Kitchen from Utah Style

In design school one of my favorite teachers was Liz Wixom. She taught my textiles class, a class that could be rather boring, but not with her.  She was in the latest issue of Utah Style magazine. It hits stores April 1, but I got mine in the mail a little early. One of the features on her is this AMAZING kitchen she designed with her design partner. There is not one thing not to love about this kitchen. One of my favorite aspects are the cupboards. They seem to be painted white, but they are actually painted  Light Pewter, from Benjamin Moore.

It's still very classic, but with a slight twist. It's not 100 % white but very close. It's more creamy. I just can't stop staring. Now this is a dream kitchen!

What's New in My Home

At Target I picked up this little navy blue beauty for $13 big ones! It's actually an outdoor pillow, but I decided to use it indoors. Now because it's at a very discreet, locals only shop, no one else has it! Ha Ha Ha, yeah right. I know this has been around the block a few times in the design world, but it hasn't stopped in my home yet, so it's very brand new to me. I'm in the middle of  doing all new pillows. The yellow pillow behind  the blue one I've had for four years. It's a Thomas Paul and I got it for $5. There was a store here in SLC called Form and Function, they went out of business, and I scored big time at the closing sale!

My birthday was a few weeks ago and I got hooked up with gift cards. I used one to a store called Hip and Humble, where I picked up this white decanter. I love the shape, size and the fact that it opens.

Lastly, I've been loving these letters. Purchased from emiliejayne, these letters have been my favorite!!! I have never seen a J like this. Only the letters J and S were there, so I had to find a P for my husband. It's a tad bit smaller, but I compensated with the paper.

Spring Has Sprung

So glad that Spring has finally arrived. Now if the weather would just catch up. In honor of the glorious season I thought I'd share some fun spring accessories. This plastic cuckoo clock comes in a fun hot pink or silver. I think it would add a youthful touch to any space, and would for sure work well in a bathroom.

Now I could see this darling pillow on a front porch while sipping lemonade! Doesn't that sound so amazing.

I'm a huge fan of wall decals and love to use them whenever I can. This birdcage and branch decal is so spring to me. Strangely all these accessories have birds in them, so if you're on the hunt for a bird theme in your home, then by all means take this advice!

And lastly, loving these chairs. Now the price range isn't for the everyday garden ware and tare, but what a great idea to find miss-matched chairs from thrift stores and give them new life with fun spring colors.

Dwell-ing in Bed

One of my favorite resources for fabric, pillows, and linens is Dwell Studio. I absolutely loved the Q&A section in House Beautiful a couple months ago about Christiane Lemieux, the founder of Dwell Studio. What I loved most was that amazing bed she has in her master bedroom. Ainsley's bed is very similar, although I didn't plan it that way. I had thought I came up with such a cute way of doing an upholstered bed, but leave it to a fabulous designer to have already designed the bed. She said in the article that it is in her new furniture line, which I obviously haven't seen yet, otherwise it probably would have been easier to wait for that bed to come out instead of creating my own!

She also has a book out called Undecorate, that I just added to my Amazon cart. Very excited to read it. I love her patterns, style and design.

"Oh... That would be Perfect"

Here are just a few items I've come across on the web, where I've said to myself "that would be perfect"! Maybe some of my perfect fits are what you've been looking for or what you may not have thought of yet for your space. With spring approaching, I would love to add some new fun bright pillows and that great side chair to my  living room.

Kelly Wearstler In Lonny

The latest issue of Lonny is their best yet! I loved every single article and spread they put together. My absolute favorite article is about Kelly Wearstler. Her style is very unique, and she has never strayed from it. She's not afraid to mix things up. I loved the questions and answers that they shared.  She has recently started blogging, and it's great to catch a small glimpse into her life. Be sure to check out this months Lonny to see the full article and more pictures of her office.

There were a lot of great images from the magazine this month, here are just a few I loved.

When Life Gives You Lemons... Add Some Twigs

I was in charge of making center pieces for a function. They needed to be pretty inexpensive, it being there were a lot of tables. It also couldn't be too obtrusive in color or size. So I headed to my local wholesale floral shop and picked up some bush like plants, (not at all sure of what the real name is)  and also picked up a couple bags of lemons from Costco. This is the result I came up with.

I also did a few smaller pieces.

I can't even begin to explain how good my house smelled with all the lemons I cut up. I think I cut about a dozen and a half. I love using normal everyday things to decorate with. Fruit, vegetables, and twigs. It's a very simple thing to add to your home, but makes a great impact.

Happy Tape

Look what should be arriving in 5-7 business days... Happy Tape. I love the little details like this that complete a project. This tape is great to add to a letter, gifts, or around the top and bottom of a lamp shade.  I just love this stuff. I decided to go with the green and blue combo this time.  The colors are so vibrant and really make a fun statement!

To see some unique ways to use the tape check out their blog.

Trellis Wallpaper Used In A Unique Way

While browsing some websites for inspiration, I came across this fabulous kitchen. The detail in this space is unbelievable. I especially love the Kelly Wearstler's Imperial Trellis Wallpaper placed that high. I have to say I have never thought of doing something like that to fill in the space, but pretty sure I'm hooked on it now. I also can't get enough of that chandelier. What a statement! This is a pattern that seems to be used quite a bit lately. I like the fact that it's just a touch of the pattern, and that the whole kitchen isn't done with it. I think it makes more of an impact that way. A little bit can really go a long way.

Ideas For Your Ikea's

So I found this website called Bemz in one of the magazines that I subscribe to. I get so giddy when I see a stack of magazines in my mail box, it totally makes my day. I thought this was too cool not to share though. It's a site that makes slipcovers for furniture from Ikea. You can choose from many different types of fabrics for furniture that they sell now, and even discontinued ones.  Here is just a sample of what you can choose from. You pick the piece of furniture that you have, then choose from at least twenty five different types of fabrics, patterns, or solids. They're slip covers that you put on yourself, I think this can add new life to an old piece of furniture.

Modern Genealogy

This site is new to me, and I wish I had known about this a long time ago. If you're looking for a modern way to display genealogy, then look no further than My Tree and Me. The designs of these family trees are so unique, and wouldn't be the same ho hum thing to hang in your home. They come in great colors to accent your home, and can flow right into your design.
